Help us to 'Raise the Woof' on Phase Two of the RCHS Animal Shelter!! Capital Campaign Kick Off - Groundbreaking was July 6, 2007. Now two years later with lots of volunteer work, The Randolph County Humane Society is about to open the first phase of its new shelter building project, October 24th with a grand opening ceremony. It has taken more than two years for the new kennel facility to become a reality for the shelter’s staff and volunteers. In addition to creating kennels for more than 36 dogs - more than double the number the current shelter building has been able to house indoors - the facility now boasts dog isolation and quarantine rooms, a clinic room, laundry room and employee/volunteer clean up room. “We are all very excited about the completion of our new dog building,” said Kelly Scheidegger, shelter manager. “Although our old facility has been a place of refuge for lost and unwanted dogs, it was simply old and in constant need of repair. We now have a modern facility designed to better meet the needs and comfort of the dogs in our care.” The facility’s opening marks the completion of Phase 1 of the shelter’s “Raise the Woof” capital campaign. The majority of the materials and labor for the estimated $150,000 facility were donated, with private contributions and the sale of building blocks to individuals, families and corporate sponsors covering additional expenses. The opening of the new kennel facility also marks the commencement of Phase 2 of the “Raise the Woof” capital campaign. Phase 2 will provide the shelter with a new frame building that will house a cat room, staff offices, an education room, lobby and grooming area Our plan involved two stages. Stage One: A new block/frame building with concrete floor to house the dog kennels, dog isolation and quarantine rooms, a clinic room, receiving room, laundry and employee/volunteer clean up room. Estimated cost (including donated materials and labor) is $150,000. Stage Two: A new frame building to house the cats, offices, education room, lobby and grooming room. Estimated cost (including donated materials and labor) is also $150,000. Please find it in your heart to help the unwanted animals of Randolph County by making a cash donation or a donation of materials or labor. Consider 'Buying a Block' for $10.00 or a family block for $20.00 - corporate blocks are also available for $50, $100 or $250. You're not limited to one though!...many blocks will get the shelter built quickly. Donations in excess of $1,000 will have your name or business added to a plaque at the new shelter. If you are able to help, please send your tax deductible donation to: Citizens National Bank C/o Kelly White 211-213 Third Street Elkins, WV 26241 Make checks payable to: Randolph County Humane Society and indicate that the donation is for 'new shelter.' If you are able to donate materials or skilled labor please contact Brian
McDonald at 636-5205 or brianwhiteoaklane@hotmail.com. We are in the process
of compiling a list of materials for phase two, and Brian will
be happy to discuss the details with you. A floor plan of both new buildings
(shown together as one building to conserve space) is below. . Share in the excitement, be a 'best friend' and help to build their
new home! Floor Plan of New Shelter:
