Rescue Organizations

Rescue Waggin

We are participating in the PetSmart Charities program for rescuing dogs.  RCHS is one of two shelters in WV participating in this wonderful program.   City and county officials watch as 21 dogs and puppies are saved by this remarkable program.  This van appears at our shelter each month to transport dogs to places in the Northeast with stronger spay neuter laws.   Thanks to Kelly and her shelter team for the hard work that goes into making this program a success!

We do use other rescue organizations too.  Here are the Policies & Procedures concerning Animal Rescue Organizations:

The Randolph County Humane Society is dedicated to finding safe and loving homes for all the animals entrusted to its care. We welcome all Rescue Organizations to work with our shelter to achieve this goal.

The RCHS must charge the set adoption fee for animals that are considered adoptable by the general public. The RCHS is a non-profit organization partially funded by the adoption fees we collect.

Any animal scheduled to be euthanized will have the adoption fee waived and be made available for adoption to any authorized rescue group or organization free of charge.

The RCHS will provide a character profile and health history along with digital pictures to interested Rescue Organizations. We will also be posting the animals on the internet. Click here to see animals

Adoption Procedures for Rescue Organizations
All inquiries from Rescue Organizations concerning the animals located at the RCHS shelter need to be directed to the RCHS Manager Kelly Scheidegger.

1. The RCHS requires each Rescue Group to fill out a Rescue Organization Information Form. Once the form has been completed and approved the group or organization may adopt from the shelter as an Approved Rescue Organization. This form only needs to be completed once for each organization or group.

2. The Rescue Organization needs to contact the RCHS shelter at 304 636-7844 or RCHS Manager Kelly Scheidegger to inquire about available animals.

3. Once the Rescue Organization has picked an animal it needs to fill out an adoption contract for each animal being rescued. This form will be kept on file at our shelter.

4. The Rescue Organization must make arrangements to have the animal picked up within a designated time frame. We do not have the resources to transport animals.

5. All adoptions need to be completed at the RCHS shelter unless other arrangements have been pre-approved by the RCHS Manager.
