Are You Ready to adopt?
Making the Commitment
Ask yourself:
1: Are you allowed to have
a pet where you live?
2: Do you have room for a dog or would a cat be better?
3: Just how much time do you have?
4: Can You Afford A pet?
5: Can You Give the Love and Attention This Pet Deserves?
6: Are you active?
7: Do you have children?
8: Where will the pet reside? A life on a chain is not a life!
Remember a pet does
not have to be a puppy or a kitten to make the perfect pet.
Older animals have a lot to offer. No puppy training and older
cats are litterbox trained. Your pet may live 16 or 18
years. Are you ready for that commitment?
Give your animal
some time to adjust when you bring him home. Be patient.
Use your shelter as a resource for advice. Staff often have
answers to problems that you may not have considered. Call them!
Plan to have fun with your pet. Play and spend time enjoying
your new pet. This should be a happy and exciting time for you
both. Don't forget to call and let the shelter staff know
how happy you are with your pet.
